Children’s Lighthouse of Minnesota, along with more than thirty other non-profit organizations, was chosen as a recipient of a sizeable contribution from local radio station Cities 97 from the sale of the sold-out Cities Sampler Volume 23. Children’s Lighthouse of Minnesota will be the first residential children’s hospice and respite home in the Midwest serving children with shortened life expectancy and their families.

At an award luncheon in Minneapolis on June 20, 2012, a check in the amount of $35,333 was presented to Children’s Lighthouse of MN volunteer, Julie Soderlund and board member, Nancy Wilson. Proceeds from the sale of the Sampler, which features in-studio C recordings by artists heard on Cities 97, benefit local charities in Minnesota. Nearly $800,000 was raised for Minnesota non-profits from the sale of the past year’s Sampler CD.

Julie Soderlund accepted the check on behalf of Children’s Lighthouse of MN saying, “We are tickled to receive this award and feel fortunate to have the Cities 97 Charity Council share in our efforts to support sick children and their families.”

The gift from Cities 97 and the Sampler sponsors including Target, TCF Bank and McNally Smith School of Music, will further the goal of Children’s Lighthouse of MN to build a residential children’s hospice and respite home here in the Twin Cities area for children and families in need of compassionate care at the end of life and precious respite when parents and care-givers need to emotionally and physically recharge.
